Rip Fence extension

I looked for a way of using a longer rip fence. This one should also keep straight so that the power feed could drive the stock beyond the saw blade. After much thought I came up with a straight edge I already had which was an anodised aluminium tube 1550x40x20mm that would hook on the fence and a stop gauge would keep that one parallel. These accessories had to be set and removed without tool.

Working

Two pins were screwed on the tube, the end one longer than the start one. So the tube is set up pulling the longer pin into the end fence recess then pushing the little one into the start fence recess. This way locks consistently the tube along the fence as long as the operator push the stock. If the board came back the longer pin would prevent the tube from going away. These pins proved very handy and secure although I'm always taking care they hook the fence.

Tube

A clamping knob and a spacer fitting the gap between the saw table and the infeed planer-jointer table locks the base. The lock lever clamps the metal rod that can slide along the base until it contacts the rear aluminium tube. That stop gauge is also workable on the mortiser table as you may see in that document.

Stop Gauge

The below left photo shows the tube freely gliding with the rip fence whereas the adjustable stop in the right photo allows the use of the power feed unit.
