Scaled Fence for Side Support Table
That scaled fence locks and lift on the
side support table without any tool and holds the whole lock mechanism so that leaving the support table flush to the sliding table. Whatever the location, pushing the wood through the saw blade to cross cut or in format type position, fixed factory set angles improve ease and accuracy and flip stops allow different cut length in one work cycle. Once more the whole thing was about available room in my little shop.
My shop width can't allow sheet goods to directly be cross-cut and the first cut has to be performed with the
power saw along a straight edge. No issue about the best way and double side veneered sheets can be sawed in two passes with consistent results, subject to time of course.
The wagon carriage with the aft fence, also known as format type, can easily hold and cross cut a half 19 mm (3/4") thick plywood sheet and you may read about parallelling and squaring
in that document.
That sheet divided by two once more can be cut with the scaled fence locked forward, meaning the fence holds the panel against the saw blade. But I mostly use this arrangement for tenoning or
machining finger joints on the spindle moulder.
The best way of saving space remain to hang and the scaled fence stay at hand just over the workbench.
