Drill Press
The drill press is located between the
combination machine and the
chip collector, along the wall and bolted on a cabinet where only one of the four drawers accommodates the longest drill bits with morse taper shank or spade bits as well as the hinge sinker bit occasionally used whereas the most usual accessories hang along the upright drawer. If needed a piece of wheel tube maintains the vacuum outlet against the drill press column so that channelling chips and keep the work clear.
Here is the upright drawer holding the metal twist bits, lip and spur bits, adjustable wood bit for large holes, countersink bit, chuck keys and a small chuck. The vertical plywood sheet screwed behind the front face holds two metal slides that guide and stop the drawer.
The
roller stand as well as the near tables of the combination machine help the longest workpieces to be fed and supported at drilling time.
Conversely the drill press table makes a perfect support for long wood stocks when mortising.
