Mortiser Table Fixtures
The strength of the origin and
versatile hold down allowed a workpiece to firmly clamped on the mortiser table but didn't meet all my needs. Therefore I made an easy to build fixture enabling the use of clamps. That fixture also had to accommodate back stops that should be removed and replaced tool free as well as a stop gauge otherwise used with
that saw fence extension.
The three rough aluminium angles provide a way of clamping the workpiece against the table without being in the way. Bolts go through the cast aluminium table sides and lock with washer and nut. The spacers allowing the back stop to glide between the angle and the table comes from a rough aluminium square tube.
Back stops are merely stuck wood like plates and may be piled so that minimizing their room. The three dimensions enable for the stopping of the workpiece more or less near the working tool.
Here are an instance and some possible arrangments.
