Spindle Moulder Fence
Before machining with that fence I really thought a spindle moulder fence was worth another one but it came with the machine and over time I became aware of my mistake. Take a look : Pins allowing for always lock the fence parallel to the sliding table, rotating handle for rapid positioning right along a toothed rack, separate micro-adjustment of the infeed and outfeed plates, reversible plates for traditional moulding or continuity plate, quick access to the working tool and so forth. I have actually known only one drawback. Twenty kilos are a bit weighty and I had to find a near storage place from the combination machine.
That document details the positioning and adjustment of the fence and its plates as well. It also enables for a better understanding and the benefits of the linear shifting.
That paper describes how to quickly switch from continuity plate to traditional way.
The continuity plate in the below picture didn't come with the combination machine and you may read about
clicking that link.
Dust goes out from two outlets. The first one at the rear of the fence and the second into the table recess. You may find
some details here.
Opening the guard cover clears enough space for accessing and replacing the working tool and the wooden shaft you may see below is merely my way of piling tools. You may find details in the
virtual spindle project and an instance reading the
finger-joint paper.
And finally I wouldn't feel comfortable with that heavy duty fence if it wasn't put away close to its working location when not used. Details about the
fence sled can be found there.
