Resawing Into Venner Up to 25 mm (1")

Mosaic
Drawing mosaic on a table top or other small objects from veneer is not so difficult under condition that strips could be previously calibrated and combination machines allow wood to be easily squared but do not purpose thicknessing under five millimetres. Nevertheless a simple jig embedding the workpiece may enable calibrated stock to be resawed into two thin sheets as shown in the below picture. The continuity plate allows the jig to smoothly glide along plates and the angle fixture, here used as safety device, fully cover the working tool.

Overview

I get best results with a fine saw blade that leaves a smooth surface without burning wood, probably due I typically resaw wood strips up to 25 mm (1 inch) wide, no more.

Tooling

You may see the embedded workpiece in the below drawing. The teeth rip the wood strip and the backstop prevents the above sheet from flying after going out of the blade. The back stop may be simplified and a single stock of wood would hold the back side the same way.
