Table Extension : Arm stand

Because my shop is lacking for room this table extension needed to take few space as well as filling more than one function. I also wished a light one that would be set and removed tool less. Whatever the use it would always be located in front or on the left side of the combination machine. Another different one would be placed at the rear of the table. From the drawing left this extension can help for the cross cut of boards up to 2.10 meters or the sawing as an infeed table which is its main use or the workpiece to be received out of the planer table. Lastly it hangs along the wall most of time.

Workshop

The wood vice merely holds a screwed plywood tight when using to cross cut. A recess in the aluminium profile fit the solid tube of the combination machine which is also needed by the rip fence. Both don't need tool to be set and removed. Except this extension doesn't aim heavy wood pieces the weak point remains the recess that might go out the solid tube. This could happen with a clamped stop bloc on the extension and an unexpected kick back. A plywood lock can be screwed in order to avoid that they come apart.

Overview

So the rip fence and the extension slide along the same track. As a consequence the less wide table would work the better. I retrieved a window aluminium profile that I recycled into a long and narrow table then made a leg from some scrap wood and strengthened the angle. After adding two pads I filled the tube with a left expansive polyurethane foam and I was astonished how the tube became stronger. Lastly the triangle wood stock screwed on the left side of the profile aims only the cut out extension.
