Dust Extraction

A vacuum unit will never retain all dust and my little one won't. After much thought I came to the only sensible decision. A roof window installed near the dust extractor would ensure fresh air as well as improve light into the workshop. Most of time it remains close whereas the shop door is always opened but opening the roof window enables the major part of fine dust to be quickly evacuated. On the other hand all furnitures are closed. There is nothing better that a door to prevent dust from spreading. So keeping workshop clean becomes easier.

So that working easily and efficiently I thought the vacuum unit should hardly never move. In the real world I just need to slightly rotate the unit when connecting power tools on the workbench.

The hose only moves and stays along the wall when not used. The combination machine accommodates the three positions in the foreground of the drawing and the left hand side shows the location aiming the workbench. The last one purposes the drill press table.

The planer jointer and spindle moulder use the same connecting pipe of the combination machine. Here are some details about the planer-jointer dust collector.

Thickness planer chips need to go as straight as possible to the vacuum unit and the hose does not get in the way. Details may be found in that document.
